What a huge difference a little sleep can do! I feel sooooo much better now I´ve rested all day, had a few fairly long naps along the day.
I will stay home tomorrow aswell - just to be on the safe side.
Just had a shower and decided to check my e-mails while waiting for my herb-tea...

How quickly the season changed. It was so cold yesterday, I felt I was freezing as soon I stepped out. Later I realised I was becoming ill with a flu. Now I have a temperature and am forced to stay home. Needed to make a few updates for work using the computer so decided to pour my heart out here aswell;))
I am very seldom ill, but when I am, I can see clearly why. My body has always been the wiser of us, I don´t seem to remember to rest enough and then my body forces me to slow down and rest by giving me a temperature or fever. I take beeing ill serious.
Now I´ll take my book and climb back under the covers and read and take naps. And drink plenty of water.

Salt + Pepper = true

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I purchaised this lovely s&p set from a fellow aquarian, dear Rebekah at Little Byrd Vintage. They have arrived and I´m soooooo pleased.

The weather has changed. It was rather chilly to cykle this morning. And my hands were freezing. I should have worn gloves! It is no longer late summer, it is autumn. And according to the weather forecast, snow can be expected further north. I am defenately not ready for snow. I was wearing sandals last week.

It felt almost nostalgic to walk around in this beautiful city. Next time I will defenately stay overnight. And take my husband with me!
Stockholm has always been a very romantic city for me. When I lived there in the 90´s, I had dated my husband for a year and we were still fresh lovebirds. When he came to visit me in Stockholm, I met him in the old town and we used to have breakfast in the small cafés and then I headed for work. He came to meet me at the theatre in the evenings. I still have a bunch of letters that he wrote to me. Yes, in those days, there were no e-mails sent, no txts, no skype. We did allow ourselves a few longdistance-calls once in a while.
We had a lovely trip to Stockholm this weekend. We mainly stayed in Södermalm, but took a quick walkabout the old town aswell.

Today we (me and my two colleagues) are leaving for Stockholm. We´re going to meet up with sweet lovely Lene from Butik Sophie (in Copenhagen) and also explore Gamla stan (the old town), incl. Butik Sirlig at Tyska brinken and enjoy the lovely small cafés, the tiny alleys, the houses, the beautiful rooftops...I lived in Stockholm during a short time in the 90´s, and I loved it! But a certain husband was the reason for my return to Helsinki;))

These "lovebirds" are also from our café.

I have been so busy all week and now I feel I need to rest!
So I will have a warm shower, prepare some herbal-tea and soon go to bed, read at leats a few pages and then fly away to another dimension.

These "lovebirds" are from our café.

Had a lovely evening out with my friends, at times I just looked at my friends and felt ever so happy and lucky to have such wonderful people in my life. I think of K, how she is so excited and lively. M, very thoughtful, at times serious, with the blackest sense of humour. S, she is so gentle, she has the sweetest kindest heart and I love her voice and the way she speaks. A, he is so funny. And so dear. J, a person whos calmness I sometimes secretly wish for.

A beautiful sunday here in Helsinki. What a beautiful season we´ve had.

Above are my garlands I made last weekend.

The last days of summer

I cannot understand how the temperature is 21 degrees, it´s mid-september!
I will go out for a run in the park and later meet up with friends for dinner. But there´s plenty to do before dinner, I will continue with some of my projects.
Above are some rosepetals I picked last night. I fell asleep with a soft rose scent.

Found these small hard ryebread boats at the local farm-market. I made tapenade and this is perfect with soup! Made a creamy tomatosoup with lemongrass. Delicious!

Grandmother´s vase

Today my parents decided to give to me my grandmother´s vase that I have admired for years! Is it not a beauty?

Sweet Paul

A year ago, Paul showed images of a photoshoot for a magazine and things he had created. I remember beeing charmed by a piece of art he had created using old typewriter keys. Later I found a bunch, but had no idea what to do with them. Until today. I used an old bookcover and created this silly piece.

Beautiful day, wonder how long we can enjoy these end-of-summer days. It is after all mid-september. I do not mind at all.
Today I think I will continue my garland projects and listen to music, take a walk in the park, play the guitar.
Tiny rosebuds around a church-candelabra.

Aaaaah, what a lovely morning. Made luxury-breakfast for us, consisting of a plate filled with delicious bits and pieces; salad, grilled aubergine, sundried tomatoes, gouda, soft-cheese that I flavoured with fresh herbes, watermelon, marmalade, cherry-tomatoes, café au lait.
Then climbed back into bed, snug up to a loved one and listened to the radio. I enjoy edited music-programmes.
Now I will head into town. First have lunch at a charity-happening called "Fill my bowl", you purchaise a bowl from a ceramic-artist and then purchaise your soup from amongst many participating restaurants/ cafés. All money raised goes to charity.
After, I have planned to buy hortensia flowers and try make a garland as Johanna did at vintage.
I have an invitation to see an opening-performance tonight called Tango Roto at the Savoy theatre. Looking forward to see it. Such talented musicians and I looooove the tango.

Above another little N-stencil.

Wishing you a pleasant weekend!

Was it this fairy that brought me the good luck? You see, I won! Cafe Cartolina had a giveaway, and I´m one of the lucky winners. I am very excited. I follow the blog regularly, I would say, daily. And that is also why this means something to me. Of course it´s fun to win, but there´s also something else...maybe the fact that the virtual world suddenly became slightly more real...

Had a meeting with a lovely friend today. He gave me a massage, a wellbeeing massage. I now feel so completely relaxed. I´m spoiled I know;))

The work above is made of rosepetals and a vintage metal rose that is sown onto vintage booksheets.

Some more art at the café

Sunday. I have managed to ruin my oven (by placing a plastic cuttingboard on a warm stove and it melted emmediately, cannot believe I did something as stupid as that!), carry 15 bookbags up 25 steps for my parents and bring home a vintage horseshoe, some vintage china plates and a stuffed common goldeneye.

I´m very fond of this delicate dragonfly on silkpaper that are for sale at the café.

Art from the café

This is a tinted flower that is for sale at the café.
I had a lovely time at the theatre festival, saw some beautiful performances, especially by an irish diiva named Karen Egan. Her spectacular show called La Charlatanne made me so completely charmed I haven´t been able to stop going on about it. I laughed and I cried! Oh, what talent, what beauty, what details, ah, it was a perfect cabaret!

Last summerdays

Today was a beautiful sunny day. I was so busy most of the day, but managed to enjoy a cup of coffee in the sun and tried to catch a glimpse of the sun and people enjoying it whilst working.
Brought a few sunflowers home. They are so beautiful.
Tomorrow I travel to Pori where they have a theatre festival going on right now. Looking forward to seeing performances and meeting people.

Wishing you a pleasant end of week.
